"Dear Mr. Awe, We had the pleasure of spending a day and a half (July 2 and 3) with Mr. Hilmar Warner and would like to commend him for his ability to captivate us while imparting volumes of knowledge during his tours. The initial tour introduced us to the history of Berlin and involved a walking tour combined with a van tour in the afternoon. This was the perfect combination to take in as much as we possibly could in one day. When Hilmar realized that I’d been ill since our arrival two weeks previously, he was sensitive and slowed the pace of the walk. The visual aid photos were most helpful in making the past more real to us. Obviously, we had seen endless television coverage of WWII on the History Channel. However, Hilmar’s detailed information made each of us appreciate the full impact of the War in a way that was simply not possible through television. The stories he told at each site completely held our attention and left us wanting more. We especially appreciate that he managed to obtain a reservation for lunch at the Dome in the Reichstag. We could not possibly have managed without him. The day we were there we encountered extremely high security and we would have been at a loss as to how to maneuver under such intense circumstances without him. It was clearly one of the highlights of our journey. We toured the Pergamon and Neues Museums on our second outing with Hilmar. It was intriguing to follow the thread of destruction and rebirth that has been part of history through the ages. This theme was pointed out throughout the exhibits in the museum. We enjoyed his comments about the architects of the various buildings we visited as well. In short, our trip to Berlin would not have been complete had we not had the privilege of touring with Hilmar."

"Hi Bjorn, ... I carried out some research on guided tours, which something that always benefits our trips, and I kept coming back to the Humboldt Tours website. The reviews are good, the tour options are broad, and the staff seemed to be very knowledgeable people. Having submitted a request via the website, I was contacted promptly and after an email exchange we settled on the tour details, including some insight as to who our guide would be on the day. On the day of our tour in Berlin, we were met promptly at our hotel. Our guide, Hilmar, took time to speak with all our party and discuss the intention of the day. During our tour to Checkpoint Charlie, The Topology of Terror, Hitler's Bunker, the Holocaust Museum, The Brandenburg Gate, The Reichstag, Museum Island and the area around Humboldt University, we were encouraged to ask questions, which we did. Hilmar, considering English isn't his first language, was attentive and receptive and answered our questions with knowledge and insight. The content of the tour was perfectly pitched. It was candid and detailed, and shared with a knowledge and understanding that helped the difficult history unfold for us. Difficult topics were't glossed over, and it helped make sense of the subject. The tour wasn't all heavy going, and this is credit to Hilmar, who's knowledge, capability and enthusiasm is a credit to himself and your organisation. When we had a protracted break because of bad weather, Hilmar relaxed with us at a local bar, and we enjoyed exchanging stories and banter. There was no rushing around at the expense of the experience of the tour, and to a person we enjoyed our time in Berlin in no small part as a result of the tour. Our experience was great, and the feedback from others suggests that this is not uncommon. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Humboldt Tours to anyone who was visiting Berlin, and I hope to re-use the services when I return to Berlin in the future."

"Anna, A funny thing happened on the way to the forum. We got up early had a great breakfast and were in the lobby waiting for our tour guide at 8.45. A tour person showed up and the concierge and the door man pointed us out and we departed with a tour guide who was driving around to all the hotels collecting people for the tour. and then we boarded a double decker bus for the tour. We suspected nothing and the woman tour guide asked for our receipt which we didn't have but I had what you sent me and told her we paid. She shrugged and the tour started and we were with her for three hours and at the end we asked if they were taking us back to our hotel and she said no you are on your own. We took a cab back for ten Euro's and when we returned the concierge told us that a tour guide had been looking for us and had left his card. We called him and he came right over and we got the tour we paid for and more, he was truly great. We had to compensate him somewhat and were glad to do so. We will have his driver tomorrow with a lady tour guide. Always screwing up, Jim"

"We went to Berlin last year, april 2009 and booked in advance an Italian speaking guide. We had never been to Berlin and since we are pretty curious about what might happen behind the curtins we asked our guide to provide a 4 hrs walking tour to see spots that might not been seen by a common tourist. Now… First of all, you need a comfortable shoes, since Berlin isn’t just your neighbourhood quarter. It’s much more. Our guide was besides alamost two meter high (no high heels please) if not more, and spoke excellent Italian. He kind of took us (four adults) as his children to a huge playground. With him, we learned about Berlin, about It’s history and It’s people’s habits much more than any other guide book may have teached us. And our tour took only four hours. We never ended to any museas, while that you may see by your own, and yet I believe that if we had time and energy our guide would have lead us to the secrets, that even museum guides wouldn’t be aware of. It may coast a bit for a private guide, but we were so extremely saddisfied to it that no money can by that feeling, and we are looking forward to come back real soon, and let our guide to lead us to more unknown secrets, we keep in our hearts and our memories forever."
